Don't Let Your
Teeth Flunk College!
College life is challenging. Baggy-eyed,
you gulp down a soda on your way to that 7
A.M. class and a bag of chips when you cram
late at night for a midterm. On-the-run
nutrition choices, stress and hit-and-miss
oral care can cause your teeth to weaken and
decay. Studies show that college students
have a high incidence of
tooth decay
caused by acid erosion. Sodas, sports and
energy drinks, designer coffees laden with
sugary delights, chips, candies, or any high
carbohydrate or starchy food like pasta or
bread provides the source for the acid that
erodes and destroys teeth.

Veneers—Spice and Everything Nice
Porcelain veneers are an excellent choice to
spice up your smile and your life. Your sexy new
smile will be stunning for as many as 20 years
when you maintain a daily oralcare routine.
Veneers need only a slight modification to the
good care you already give your natural teeth.
Toothpaste: Veneers are strong and durable, but
your regular toothpaste can scratch a veneer’s
surface. We can recommend gentle toothpastes for
you to use.

Beacon at the Harbor's Entrance
You don’t have to be rich or famous to look like you are rich or famous.
Recent innovations in over-the-counter (OTC) cosmetic dentistry products
can now give you a smile that is so bright that you need to warn people
to put on their sunglasses before you enter the room! Recently, the American
Dental Association (ADA) surveyed dentists and discovered that tooth whitening
was the number one dental procedure requested by 40–60 year old baby boomers.
A whopping 64 percent of their patients were eager to have their teeth
shine like lighthouse beacons guiding ships through a dense fog.

A Potato May Be Just a Spud, But Whatta Food!
February is Potato Lover’s Month and also Hot Breakfast Month—a marriage made in heaven some would claim. A hot breakfast is an excellent way to start your day. A nourishing breakfast prepares your brain and body for school, work, play, or any number of activities on your daily schedule. You can concentrate better and be more productive when your stomach isn’t complaining to the world. But wait! you say, Aren’t potatoes fattening? No, they are not; it’s what you pile on top of that potato that adds to your love handles.

Slip Sliding AwayDon’t look now, but winter isn’t over; so don’t put away those gloves
and boots quite yet. Some states get cold weather and some doozie
snowstorms in February. There’s plenty of time to step out the front
door, slip and slide down the sidewalk and land ker-plop in the middle
of the driveway. Or perhaps you could fly like a magic carpet off a
snow mogul and land head first in a snow bank. Or for those of you who
are enjoying unseasonably warm weather this year, there’s nothing like
a jog in the park, stopping by the water fountain for a refreshing
slurp of cool water and bang your mouth on the fountain head. Ow, ow,
and YEOW!
