"Instant ortho" is a cosmetic solution for whiter, straighter teeth, with
faster results than traditional orthodontic care. Is it right for you?
What is instant ortho?
Instant ortho refers to esthetic dental procedures that can improve
the health of your teeth or enhance the appearance of your smile. These
procedures include:
- Bonding: The natural-looking materials used with bonding can close
gaps between teeth, lengthen small or misshapen, teeth, or whiten darkened or
stained teeth. When teeth are chipped or worn, bonding is a fast, strong
solution to create a straight and beautiful smile.
- Veneers: These are small thin shells of porcelain or other materials
that are bonded over the top and front of existing teeth. Rather than using
braces to realign the teeth over time, veneers are placed directly into position
to even out your smile.
- Crowns: Crowns are useful to restore chipped, cracked, or broken
teeth or to replace a filling. Using natural-looking porcelain, gold, or
porcelain fused to metal, we can create a crown to cover the remaining tooth.
This helps to protect your tooth and seal out bacteria.
Esthetic reasons are a major factor these days for adults who are
investigating orthodontic treatment. In cases where traditional braces may not
be necessary, instant ortho can quickly provide a dramatic improvement to your
smile. Instant ortho also may improve your ability to bite and chew
properly.
What are the advantages over traditional orthodontics?
Like traditional orthodontic treatment, the goal of instant ortho is to help
you achieve healthy, straight teeth and a beautiful smile. However, unlike
traditional braces, the instant ortho procedures typically can be completed in
one or two visits. Instant ortho may be a great solution to correct minor
problems with crowding, chipped or cracked teeth, or gaps between your
teeth.
Many instant ortho techniques use resin or porcelain materials to reshape
your teeth. These natural-looking materials have the added benefit of instantly
whitening the look of your smile!
What are the disadvantages over traditional orthodontics?
While instant ortho provides nearly immediate results, it does not always
correct the underlying problems with your teeth. For example, veneers can create
the illusion of perfect teeth, but if you have other problems (such as the
alignment of your bite), you may still experience problems with eating.
Instant ortho isn't for everybody. Depending on the severity of problems with
your teeth, "quick fixes" may not be the best choice. We will be happy to
consult with you to determine the best solution to ensure that you have a
straight, even, and healthy smile.
